गुजरात के शिक्षा और कानून मंत्री भूपेंद्र सिंह चूडास्मा का चुनाव हाईकोर्ट ने सोमवार को रद्द कर दिया था। कोर्ट ने मंत्री को भ्रष्ट आचरण और चुनाव अधिकारी से मिलीभगत का दोषी पाने के बाद कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार के पक्ष में यह निर्णय दिया था। 2017 में हुए गुजरात विधानसभा चुनाव में धोलका सीट पर हारने वाले कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी अश्विन राठौड़ ने भारतीय जनता पार्टी के उम्मीदवार भूपेंद्र चूडास्मा पर मतगणना के दौरान गड़बड़ी करने का आरोप लगाया था। इस संबंध में उन्होंने गुजरात हाईकोर्ट में याचिका भी दाखिल की थी। याचिका में कहा गया था कि चुनाव आयोग के दिशा-निर्देशों का खुला उल्‍लंघन करते हुए पीठासीन अधिकारी धवल जानी ने पोस्‍टल बैलट की मतगणना ईवीएम से पहले नहीं की।
